Versions and Editions
Standard Edition
The current standard edition of
GPS Utility Standard Edition is
- Version 5.41 Released 14th April 2022
This runs on 32 and 64-bit Windows operating systems (WinXP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows 11).

Note: Versions 5.39 and earlier are not supported on Windows 11.
The standard edition is available as:
- A Freeware option with reduced capacity, but which may be used indefinitely.
It is almost fully functional so you can test out the function using small datasets.
For details of the capacity limits and minor functional restrictions please see
the Help topic in GPSU on 'Freeware'.
- A Shareware option requiring registration with the author.
This will work with much larger datasets and provides a few minor functional improvements.

A single registration allows you to run any edition of GPS Utility.
Special Editions
There are also a number of "special editions" of GPS Utility:
These Standard special editions usually have increased capacity limits
(in terms of number of waypoints/trackpoints) but have some functional restrictions.

Each standard special edition may be converted into a Premium Edition.
The premium editions have the same full functionality and capacity as the
GPS Utility registered edition in addition to any special features.
To obtain the Premium Edition you need register the product. See the Help topic in
GPS Utility on "How to Register". You can register via

or use the Registration Form which is available within the GPSU Help system.
Version notes
Prior to Version 4.5
- New versions contain new function and major bug fixes and are identified by the first
two digits of the version ID e.g. 4.1.
- Special Editions are identified by the third digit of the ID e.g. 4.10.
- Code Revisions contain only bug fixes and are identified by the last digit of the
ID, e.g. 4.10.8.
- Beta Test versions contain the latest versions of the EXE, HLP and a
CHANGES.TXT files. Beta tests version have an alphabetic code revision character.
Beta test code is not thoroughly tested and may contain bugs and code regressions.
If you do try out a Beta test version and find a problem, then please report the exact version
you are using.
Version 4.5 and after
- New versions contain new function and major bug fixes and are identified by the first
two digits of the version ID e.g. 4.5.
- Revisions and are identified by a suffix e.g. 4.5x. A numeric suffix indicates
a standard version e.g. 4.50
- Beta Test versions contain the latest versions of the EXE, HLP and a
CHANGES.TXT files. Beta tests version have an alphabetic suffixe
e.g. 4.5a. Uppercase letters signify a later version e.g. 4.5A is later than 4.5a.
Beta test code is not thoroughly tested and may contain bugs and code regressions.
If you do try out a Beta test version and find a problem, then please report the exact version
you are using.
- Special Editions are now identified by /X where X is a letter e.g. 4.50/M.

Please keep your browser tuned to the download page for
news regarding the latest version.
If you are upgrading and have modified the Datum, Grids or the Symbol Set files then
take care not to overwrite your own files when installing the upgrade.
